Manchester United are poised to extend the stays of Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire and could sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes. However, his team-mate Sandro Tonali now appears closest to signing for Premier League title contenders Arsenal, while Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

United duo set for fresh contracts
Manchester United are believed to be closing in on new contracts for Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire.
Both players have been linked with moves away in recent months but The Athletic now expects them to stay.
The website states: ”Manchester United are close to an agreement with Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire over new contracts.
"Although work still needs to be done, negotiations are now at an advanced stage as United look to conclude fresh terms with both players.
"Mainoo is currently tied down until June 2027 - with an option to prolong by 12 months - and the proposed extension would take him through to the summer of 2031 on a significantly improved salary.
"The 20-year-old midfielder wanted to leave Old Trafford on loan after falling out of favour during Ruben Amorim’s tenure as head coach - although the club always insisted they wanted him to stay - but has returned to prominence under Michael Carrick and was called back into the senior England squad on Friday.
"Maguire is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of this season, however a fresh one-year deal with an option to add an extra 12 months is in the process of being finalised.”
Arsenal receive Tonali boost
Manchester United’s reported interest in Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes could benefit Arsenal.
With United keen on the Brazilian, it could open up a path for Arsenal to sign his team-mate, Italy international Sandro Tonali.
The Daily Star explains: ”Arsenal-linked midfielder Sandro Tonali has also been mentioned in connection with Manchester United. However, the Red Devils now appear to be focused on the Italian's team-mate Bruno Guimaraes.
”United are reportedly in advanced discussions for the Brazil international, who arrived at Newcastle in January 2022. The 28-year-old is tied down until 2028, with a transfer fee of £69 million being suggested.
”Juventus have also been tracking Tonali but are thought to believe they cannot match English clubs financially. This could give Arsenal a clear path to the former AC Milan star, 25.
”However, Newcastle are unlikely to approve departures for both midfielders without securing a quality replacement.”
Guimaraes deal not close
The i Paper pours cold water on the idea that Bruno Guimaraes’ negotiations with Manchester United are close.
Instead, the outlet suggests that the midfielder is not close to leaving the club any time soon.
The paper reports: ”Bruno Guimaraes, it was claimed by Reuters and a Brazilian journalist who has reported before on the Newcastle skipper, was in ‘advanced negotiations’ over a £69m move to Manchester United.
”In terms of timing, just at the point when the Magpies are licking their wounds after a 7-2 Champions League defeat to Barcelona, Newcastle fans needed it like a sore head after too many Spanish cervezas.
”It should come as some relief, then, that multiple Newcastle sources told The i Paper it was news to them that their skipper, who was out in Spain to support the team as he steps up his recovery from injury, was close to leaving.”
Spurs track Atubolu
Noah Atubolu is a target for Tottenham Hotspur as they look to find a replacement for Guglielmo Vicario.
Vicario is expected to leave in the summer, with Serie A side Internazionale keen on the goalkeeper at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail writes: ”Tottenham have watched Germany Under 21 international goalkeeper Noah Atubolu as they assess potential targets for the summer.
”A new goalkeeper will be paramount to Tottenham's plans with current No. 1 Guglielmo Vicario looking at a return to Italy with Inter Milan in pole position.
”Of course, who they can attract will depend on which division Tottenham are in. Sunday's crunch clash with Nottingham Forest will go some way to determining that. And Atubolu, the 6ft 4ins Freiburg stopper, has sights on a move to England.
”The 23-year-old has been compared in style to Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer and while he has a long way to go to replicate his role model, Tottenham's defence certainly needs a similarly commanding force behind them.”
