Palmer had been linked with a move to Old Trafford this week, with reports suggesting he was homesick in London.

The Mirror states: "Manchester United will not be signing Cole Palmer this summer. United bosses know the England and Chelsea star is out of the club's price range.

"An attacking midfielder is not on the club's list of priorities when it comes to strengthening the team.

"United have invested almost £135m in signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, and believe this is an area of the team which doesn't need attention.

"United could decide to spend whatever it takes to keep Bruno Fernandes on an extended deal. It's understood co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has held talks with CEO Omar Berrada about potential targets.

"And the duo have made it their mission to bring in a world-class defensive midfielder, to replace the outgoing Casemiro. Those on United's radar include Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson and Carlos Baleba, but are mindful of the potential valuations of this trio."

Arsenal monitoring striker Alvarez

Arsenal could make a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer.

The Daily Mail carries the report, citing that sporting director Andrea Berta could play a big role in persuading the former Manchester City forward to return to England.

The Gunners are said to be in the market for a new attacking option, with £64 million signing Viktor Gyokeres registering just five Premier League goals so far this season.

The article reads: "Arsenal are exploring the possibility of a move for Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez in the summer.

"Berta spent 12 years at Atletico and was the man who personally negotiated Alvarez’s £82m move from Manchester City in 2024.

Spurs face battle to sign Sterling

Tottenham are among seven clubs interested in free agent Raheem Sterling, reports The Sun.

Sterling, 31, left Chelsea on Wednesday having been frozen out at the club. The former Arsenal forward is said to be on the radar of Spurs and Napoli.

"Tottenham are among a host of clubs interested in signing Raheem Sterling after his Chelsea exit," writes The Sun.

"The former England international’s representatives have held exploratory talks with seven Champions League-level clubs at home and abroad.

"And Spurs are understood to be looking at the possibility of snapping up free agent Sterling.

"Napoli, who were linked with the winger in the summer, have also renewed their interest. Sterling, 31, would consider a move abroad to relaunch his career.

"During last summer, he was willing to consider loan moves but only to clubs in and around London, for family reasons.

"And he rejected the idea of a permanent transfer to the MLS or Saudi Pro League because he believed he could still play at the highest level.

"Sterling remains determined to prove that and would move to Europe if the right opportunity arose."

Palace stalling on Strand Larsen

Crystal Palace have "stalled on a deal" to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, per The Guardian.

Strand Larsen, who has just one goal in 21 league matches so far this season, would be Palace's record buy at £50 million, eclipsing the £35m they paid to sign Brennan Johnson from Tottenham earlier this month.

However, Palace are said to be close to signing Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa.

"Jorgen Strand Larsen’s £50m move from Wolves to south London is in serious doubt after Crystal Palace stalled on a deal on Thursday afternoon," The Guardian states.

Palace had verbally agreed in principle to sign the Norway striker for £45m, plus £5m in add-ons. Wolves were awaiting a formal written offer but it never arrived despite positive talks.

Palace have seemingly gone cold on Strand Larsen after pushing ahead with a loan deal to sign their longstanding target Evann Guessand from Aston Villa.

Palace have agreed an option to buy Guessand, who joined Villa in a £30.5m deal from Nice last summer, when Palace were among the clubs beaten to his signature."
