Manchester United will need to offer Bruno Fernandes a deal in the region of £400,000 a week to keep the Portuguese midfielder this summer.
Fernandes' future has been the subject of much speculation, with clubs in Saudi Arabia said to be interested in the 31-year-old.
The Mirror claims Fernandes has "become disillusioned" with life at Old Trafford.
The Mirror writes: "Manchester United will have to break the bank to keep Bruno Fernandes at Old Trafford this summer. Fernandes is considering his Old Trafford future - and will be inundated with offers from other clubs at the end of the season.
"The Portuguese midfielder has become disillusioned with how the club is run and the managerial changes. He came close to leaving United last summer, but rejected the chance to join the Saudi Pro League.
"The United captain will wait until the end of this season before deciding his next move. While Fernandes has been impressed with the impact Michael Carrick has made as interim manager, he wants to see who the next permanent boss will be.
"The 31-year-old knows his next deal will be the last major one of his career and that he needs to cash in. He also knows United bosses are desperate for him not to leave.
"United will stand a better chance of keeping Fernandes if they can offer him Champions League football. But club chiefs will still have to offer Fernandes a deal in the region of £400,000-a-week, making him the highest-paid player.
"This would be a significant increase on his current contract, which runs until 2027 and has the option of a 12-month extension."

Luiz set to rejoin Villa

Juventus' Douglas Luiz is set to turn down Chelsea to make a return to Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.
The midfielder's loan to Nottingham Forest will be cancelled and he will link up with Unai Emery's high-flying Villa, where he made 204 appearances between 2019 and 2024.
"Douglas Luiz is set to sign for injury-hit Aston Villa on loan with an option to buy - despite rival interest from Chelsea," states the outlet. "A deal has been agreed in principle and talks are now ongoing over terms.
"Luiz was wanted by Villa, Chelsea and clubs in La Liga but chose to return to the club he made 204 appearances for between 2019 and 2024. Villa sold the 27-year-old to Juventus for £42.5million in 2024 to help solve their profit and sustainability problems but he failed to break through in Turin.
"Chelsea were discussing whether to temporarily bring Luiz to Stamford Bridge following setbacks to Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo."

Onana could make Inter return

Andre Onana could make a return to Inter from Manchester United this summer after his agents held talks with the Serie A club, reports the Daily Mail.
Onana left Old Trafford to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a loan deal in August after losing his place to Senne Lammens.
And while he remains hopeful of resurrecting his United career, Onana could end up returning to Serie A leaders Inter.

The Mail writes: "The Cameroon goalkeeper's representatives are in Milan this week to discuss a number of potential deals, and Daily Mail Sport understands that they have discussed the possibility of Onana moving back to the San Siro.
"Although the 29-year-old has not given up on his Old Trafford career, he is expected to leave permanently at the end of the season, and is being discussed as a possible replacement for Yann Sommer at Inter.
"Onana was hugely popular during his one season at Inter in 2022-23 when he helped the club reach the Champions League final – losing narrowly to Manchester City in Istanbul – as well as winning the Italian Cup and Super Cup.
"It persuaded United to buy him for £47.2million, but they decided on a change of goalkeeper due to his inconsistent form over two seasons."

Hammers preparing double loan move

West Ham are planning a double loan move as they look to shore up their defence.
The Guardian claims The Hammers are considering loan moves for Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky and Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
The article reads: "West Ham have inquired about Kinsky, who joined Spurs from Slavia Prague last year, and would like the goalkeeper on loan with an option to buy. However the 22-year-old Czech wants regular football and it is unclear whether he would dislodge Alphonse Areola in West Ham’s lineup.
"Kinsky may stay at Spurs, where is backup to Guglielmo Vicario, if he is not to be first choice under Nuno. West Ham would also need to find a solution around their current No 2, Mads Hermansen, who has struggled since joining from Leicester last summer.
"A complication around Disasi and Kinsky both securing temporary moves to West Ham is that Premier League sides only have two domestic loan slots. West Ham signed Igor on loan from Brighton last summer but the defender has been a bit-part player. West Ham, who are close to selling Lucas Paquetá to Flamengo, would need to strike an agreement with Brighton for the Brazilian to return."
