Man Utd make contact for Sesko
Manchester United are interested in signing Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig and are considering a potential offer.
In order to help balance the books, they could offer Rasmus Hojlund and a number of other players in exchange.
The Mail reports: "Manchester United have contacted RB Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko after making the Slovenia star their No. 1 striker target.
"United have decided to pursue a deal for Sesko instead of Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, but will face competition from Newcastle.
"It’s understood that United have approached Leipzig via intermediaries to explore the possibility of signing Sesko who could be available to them for between £60-70 million plus add-ons.
"United would also consider a swap-plus-cash deal involving one of their players. Rasmus Hojlund could be used as a makeweight after struggling to justify his £72m transfer fee, and United are looking to offload their four ‘bomb squad’ players – Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho who has played in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund."
United and Newcastle join race for Woltemade
Manchester United and Newcastle are not just fighting for Benjamin Sesko - they also have an interest in VfB Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade.
The 23-year-old was a target for Bayern Munich, but their capture of Luis Diaz might see them ditch a move for the German international.
The Sun writes: "Manchester United and Newcastle are set to be locked in another transfer battle to land Nick Woltemade as their next striker.
"Bayern Munich had been in pole position to sign Woltemade, 23, - who is valued at £40 million.
"But Luis Diaz’s £55 million switch from Liverpool to Bayern has boosted both the Red Devils and Toon's chances of landing the German Under-21 star as the Bundesliga champions might pull out of the race.
"United and Newcastle have both made a new No. 9 a key summer priority."
Toon target Fulham forward Muniz
Rodrigo Muniz is now under consideration by Newcastle as an alternative to Benjamin Sesko, who appears to prefer a move to Manchester United.
Muniz would cost around £40 million, and is joined by Ollie Watkins and Nicolas Jackson as fresh options instead of Sesko.
The Mirror explains: "No high-level talks have taken place between the two clubs but an informal enquiry has been lodged by Newcastle, while intermediaries have spoken. It is thought that a fee of around £40m would be enough to get a deal done.
"Muniz, 24, is a Brazilian international and joined Fulham from Flamengo in 2021. He has scored 21 goals in all competitions over the past two seasons.
"Muniz however is not the only striker that Newcastle are considering as an alternative. They are also interested in fellow Red Devils target Ollie Watkins, while Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson is also on their shortlist."
Chelsea agree Hato deal
Chelsea have struck a deal with Ajax to sign highly-rated 19-year-old defender Jorrel Hato.
The player is set to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, and is due to undergo a medical.
The Athletic states: "Chelsea and Ajax have reached an agreement over the signing of Jorrel Hato for a fee in excess of €40million plus a sell-on clause, subject to approval from the Dutch club’s supervisory board.
"The 19-year-old Netherlands international has agreed a seven-year deal and will travel for a medical after approval has been given.
"The Athletic reported on Monday that Chelsea were closing on a move for Hato with personal terms already in place."
