Tottenham keen on Rogers
Tottenham Hotspur have switched their attentions to Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers after Arsenal won the race for Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze.
Rogers might not be any easier for Spurs to sign than Eze though, with £80 million being a potential floor on any valuation.
The Independent reports: "Tottenham Hotspur have made Morgan Rogers a priority target after missing out on Eberechi Eze, and contact has already been made with intermediaries to see if a deal is possible.
"Aston Villa do not want to sell a young star, who on Tuesday won PFA Young Player of the Year, but there is a feeling that a proper bid might change things, especially as the Birmingham club continue to face PSR constraints.
"One huge obstacle for Spurs is that Rogers is expected to cost considerably more than Eze, given that he has a contract until 2030. While figures of £80m have already been mentioned in Spurs circles, it might have to go even higher to make Villa think."
West Ham search for midfielders
West Ham are on the hunt for midfielders after their opening day defeat to Sunderland last weekend.
They have made offers for Chelsea’s Andrey Santos, as well as Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
The Evening Standard writes: "Graham Potter has confirmed West Ham are targeting midfield reinforcements before the end of the transfer window.
"West Ham made an improved bid for Southampton midfielder Mateus Fernandes on Wednesday, having seen an initial £30 million bid rejected for the 21-year-old.
"The Hammers, whose midfield was pulled apart in devastating fashion against Sunderland last weekend, also saw a £45m enquiry for Andrey Santos knocked back by Chelsea.
"Meanwhile, Edson Alvarez is poised to complete a loan move to Fenerbahce, which will allow West Ham to accelerate their pursuit of a midfielder."
Akanji set to decide on Galatasaray move
Manuel Akanji is yet to decide whether he wants to leave Manchester City to join Galatasaray this summer.
The 30-year-old central defender is valued at £15m by the club, with the Turkish side ready to pay up.
The Daily Mail states: "Manuel Akanji is debating his future after Galatasaray hit Manchester City's valuation of the defender.
"The Turkish champions want to land Akanji as well as City goalkeeper Ederson, while also holding long-standing interest in Ilkay Gundogan.
"Galatasaray are willing to meet the £15 million required to land Akanji, who does also have interest from elsewhere ahead of the transfer window closing on September 1.
"The Switzerland international joined City from Borussia Dortmund for £15m three years ago, becoming an integral part of their treble success.
"Pep Guardiola wants to trim the numbers in his squad this month and currently has nine defenders at his disposal."
Newcastle make contact for Strand Larsen
Newcastle have begun talks through intermediaries over the potential signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The Express & Star newspaper reports that Newcastle would have to offer at least £60m to sign him.
The paper explains: "Newcastle United are still pushing to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen this summer as Wolves fight to keep their Norwegian striker.
"The Magpies are in the market for another forward after losing Callum Wilson and the ongoing saga with Alexander Isak's potential departure.
"As exclusively revealed by the Express & Star earlier this summer, Newcastle hold strong interest in Larsen and talks have already begun between intermediaries over a potential deal, but the clubs are not in direct contact and will only hold negotiations if they believe they are getting closer to agreeing a fee.
"It is understood it will take a package worth at least £60 million for Wolves to consider any sale, but the club are desperate to keep hold of the striker who scored 14 Premier League goals last season."
