The 30-year-old won the Golden Ball after inspiring Spain to a second World Cup triumph this summer despite having struggled with injuries in recent years.
The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner made just 21 Premier League appearances last term, having struggled to regain his fitness since suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in September 2024.
He appears to be back to his best now, and Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Manchester City will demand a significant transfer fee for his services after his performance at the World Cup.
”Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Rodri, but Manchester City have yet to sign,” reads the article.
”According to journalist Sergio Valentin, who reveals that Rodri would sign with Real Madrid until 2030, talks between the clubs have not yet begun.
”He explains that Rodri's representatives believe City will demand €80 million from Real Madrid.”
PSG keen on World Cup hero Torres
Paris Saint-Germain have apparently set their sights on Spain’s World Cup hero Ferran Torres, amid speculation that they have lost the race to sign Yan Diomande.
The UEFA Champions League holders had been linked with the RB Leipzig winger at one stage this summer, but the Cote d'Ivoire international is now reportedly on his way to Real Madrid.
Torres could prove to be a capable alternative to the 19-year-old after he produced 16 goals and two assists in 33 La Liga appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.
He also scored the only goal in the final of the World Cup, helping Spain beat Argentina 1-0 to lift the iconic trophy for a second time.
Spanish outlet SPORT says that PSG want to complete a deal to sign the Barcelona striker as soon as possible.
”Diomande's move to Real Madrid, which they lost at the last minute, has accelerated things in Paris to avoid further setbacks in the coming weeks of the transfer window,” reads the article.
”PSG's two clear targets are Ferran Torres and Monaco winger [Magnes] Akliouche, with whom they already have an agreement.
”The French club will try to secure Ferran's signature in the coming days to launch their offensive against Barcelona and believes everything is on track to sign the Barcelona striker."
Juventus join Stones race
Juventus have reportedly joined the race to sign England international John Stones, who is available on a free transfer this summer after his Manchester City contract came to an end.
Stones played a key role as The Three Lions recorded a third-placed finish at this summer’s World Cup.
However, City decided not to extend his time at The Etihad Stadium after he managed just nine Premier League appearances during the 2025/26 season due to injury.
The 32-year-old has also been linked with Juventus’ Serie A rivals Inter, as well as Premier League side Chelsea.
Gianlucadimarzio.com is reporting that The Old Lady have already reached out to the defender.
”Juventus is considering John Stones to strengthen their defence,” reads the article.
”The Bianconeri, who have so far confirmed the arrivals of [Jeff] Ekhator and [Zeki] Celik, continue to work on the transfer market: they have been in contact with the English centre-back to initiate negotiations and, if necessary, try to beat the competition.
”Several Premier League teams and Inter Milan have also been eyeing him, but they have yet to make a move.
Barcelona turn to Kroupi
Fabrizio Romano believes that Barcelona could turn to Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi if they fail to get a deal to sign Julian Alvarez over the line.
The Spanish giants have been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid forward all summer, but their La Liga rivals have held firm in their desire to keep their star striker.
Alvarez produced eight goals and four assists in 29 La Liga appearances last term before helping Argentina reach the final of the World Cup.
Kroupi also enjoyed an impressive 2025/26 campaign, scoring 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances.
Romano added that Manchester City are also keeping an eye on the Frenchman.
”Barcelona have explored Eli Junior Kroupi as an option over recent weeks in case the Julian Alvarez deal doesn’t advance,” he posted on X.
”Manchester City also asked for info on Kroupi this month.
”Bournemouth want to keep him and insist on no plans to sell.”
