Thomas Tuchel's side sealed their place in the last eight in unforgettable fashion, beating co-hosts Mexico 3-2 at the famous Azteca Stadium on a night that will go down in history.

That set up an intriguing clash with Erling Haaland's Norway, who have reached this stage of the competition for the first time in their history following an impressive last-16 win over Brazil.

History is not on England's side, having won only two of their last seven meetings against Norway - albeit those victories came in their latest pair of encounters.

What time is kick-off?

England will meet Norway at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, Florida, at 22:00 UK time - 17:00 local time - on Saturday, July 11.

Who is the referee?

France's Clement Turpin will be the referee of England’s World Cup quarter-final with Norway.

It will be his second England assignment of the tournament, having previously taken charge of their Group L victory over Croatia.

While there were no major controversies in The Three Lions' 4-2 win in Dallas, Tuchel does have history with the Frenchman.

Tuchel was sent to the stands by Turpin after being shown two yellow cards when his Bayern Munich side played Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2022/23, a tie the Bavarians lost 4-1 on aggregate.

Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano was sent off for bringing down Haaland. However, when it was later deemed Haaland was offside in the build-up, the red card was rescinded.

Tuchel sarcastically applauded Turpin, earning him a first booking, and further protestations over another decision saw the German given his marching orders.

"Two things couldn't keep up with the level - the pitch wasn't in good condition and also the referee, unfortunately, was Grade E," Tuchel said.

"I'd give him a one out of 10. He was absolutely terrible. It's unbelievable at this level. He was whistling for everything and anything. Everything was against us."

What is the weather forecast?

There are fears the match could be disrupted as scorching heat is forecast. The temperature in Miami is expected to hit 33 degrees Celsius on Saturday, per the BBC, with thundery showers also anticipated.

With humidity factored in, the conditions are expected to feel closer to 43 degrees Celsius when the match kicks off.

Thunderstorms are expected shortly before kick-off.

Can games be postponed due to thunder and lightning?

England's last-16 tie with Mexico was delayed by an hour due to severe weather.

Matches must be halted and suspended if lightning or electrical discharge is detected within an eight-mile radius of the stadium, according to NOAA guidelines.

In that situation, players and staff will leave the field and go to the changing rooms, while fans are advised to find shelter inside the stadium.

For the game to restart, there must be no further lightning strikes detected within that eight-mile radius of the venue for a full 30 minutes.

If a lightning strike is detected, the 30-minute countdown resets.

Once that 30-minute countdown has finished, fans can return to their seats, and players will return to the pitch for a 15-minute warm-up before the game restarts.

Is there air conditioning in the stadium?

The Hard Rock Stadium is an open-air venue, which has hosted six Super Bowls - but it has no pitch-side air conditioning.

How many England fans will be in attendance?

There are expected to be 30,000 England supporters roaring on The Three Lions inside the 64,478-seat stadium in Miami, significantly more than the 8,000 they boasted at the Azteca in the win over Mexico.

England team news v Norway

Jarell Quansah has been suspended for two matches following his dismissal against Mexico, adding to Tuchel's problems at right-back.

Reece James has been struggling with a hamstring problem and is in a race to be fit for the match, while Djed Spence also has fitness concerns.

Ezri Konsa ended the Mexico match operating as the right‑back in a back five and is a contender to start against Norway.

Meanwhile, Jordan Henderson is expected to miss the rest of the tournament after having surgery on his arm following a freak accident in the post-match celebrations against Mexico.

Marc Guehi and vice captain Declan Rice also missed training on Wednesday.
