The World Series of Poker Main Event has been reduced to its final 21 players

It is getting to that point in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event where each player will feel that the chance of earning the golden bracelet is real, as we now have only 21 players remaining. The field was trimmed from 62 players to just 21 after today’s action, leaving every remaining contender one session away from earning at least $1 million.

At the end of Day 7 play, Australian Malcolm Trayner is leading the chip count with a total of 63,200,000, with the top three rounded out by Canadians Rami Hammoud in second with 41,500,000 and third-placed Lucas Jumalon with 40,800,000.

Notable players to have been eliminated from the Main Event today were Tyler Gaston and Blake Barousse; the pair came into the day with the two biggest stacks at the end of Day 6. Gaston suffered the ill-fated curse that appears to be on those who lead the chip count on Day 6, as only Jamie Gold (2006) and Martin Jacobson (2014) have managed to win the Main Event after leading on Day 6 since 2005.

Only one of the events around the tables of Las Vegas today led to a golden bracelet winner, and this came in the $3,000 T.O.R.S.E. Sterling Lopez claimed the golden bracelet, his first-ever, from this event and, in the process, a prize pot of $247,842.

Then in the $300 Gladiators of Poker No-Limit Hold'em, the field has been reduced to its last 12 players, and the tournament is led by Luis Genel, who has a chip lead of 61,800,000. It is hard to imagine that after the end of Day 2 there are only 12 players remaining after there were 11,185 entries, which have generated a prize pot of $1,873,520.

At the end of Day 3 in the $3,000 Mid Stakes Championship, there are only 16 players remaining in the fight for the prize pot, despite the day starting with 167.

Yanting Jiang has a healthy chip count compared to the rest of the field, as she has 30,925,000, while Chahn Jung in second has a total of 16,500,000.

Then in the $3,000 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha, Day 1 came to an end with only 158 players remaining from the 892 entrants. Leading the field at the end of play is Evan Krentzman with a chip count of 840,500.

At the end of play on Day 1A in the $500 Summer Saver No-Limit Hold'em, six-time golden bracelet winner Martin Kabrhel is currently sitting in fourth with a chip count of 1,075,000, but leading the way is Ryan Stiner with 1,800,000.

In the $1,500 The Closer, the field for Day 2 has been confirmed after the action from Day 1B concluded with 292 players progressing. The chip leader from Day 1B is Iason Filippidis with a total of 1,825,000, while in second is Alexandre Moreau with 1,605,000.

Finally, in the $10,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Championship, we saw the field reduced to 33 on the second day of action.

Two-time WSOP golden bracelet winner Fahredin Mustafov is leading the chip count with a total of 2,800,000, while in second is another two-time golden bracelet winner, Justin Liberto, with a total of 2,100,000.
