Adam Ramsay-Peaty cruises into 100m breaststroke final to underline gold medal credentials at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

Team England’s Adam Ramsay-Peaty continued his impressive start to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, storming into the final of the 100m breaststroke.

The 31-year-old set a time of 59.19 in his semi-final to advance as the fastest qualifier as he looks to add another gold medal to his remarkable roll of honour.
Ramsay-Peaty is going for a fifth Commonwealth Games gold, while he also has three silvers to his name.
With three golds - two of which came in the 100m breaststroke - and three silvers, he is also a six-time Olympic medallist, while his record at world and European level is even more remarkable.
He will be highly fancied to prevail in the 100m breaststroke final on Saturday evening.
Also through to the final is Team England's Gregory Butler, who was the sixth-fastest qualifier with a time of 1:00.12, and Jersey's Filip Nowacki.
Nowacki, the 18-year-old world junior champion, clocked a semi-final time just 0.33 seconds slower than Ramsay-Peaty.
Speaking to TNT Sports about how close it was between himself and Nowacki, Ramsay-Peaty said: "That’s how we like it, eh?
"I always said to myself going and committing to these Games, we’ve got a long two weeks ahead with the Europeans, so I’m just trying to reserve as much as I can.
"Tomorrow, the final is going to be a really good one."

Asked what impresses him the most about Nowacki, he added: "He’s very fast. He can do the IM [individual medley], the breaststroke [from] 200m to the 50m, so he’s got a bright future ahead of himself.
"Obviously, these championships are going to be a learning process, but hopefully we can see some world records, especially in that 200m."

Nowacki also paid tribute to Ramsay-Peaty, 13 years his senior, describing him as a "true role model".
Separated by just two lanes, the 18-year-old will have a chance to face his idol with a gold medal up for grabs.
So, does he fancy his chances?
"Course I do" he joked. "No, I wish. I’m going to give it my best shot. Adam is a true role model in the sport. I’ve grown up watching him race in Rio, Tokyo and even Paris.
"To race next to him in such an arena is great."
