'All-time great' Mohamed Salah will be 'unmatched forever', predicts former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after Anfield exit announcement

Mohamed Salah will bring down the curtain on a glittering nine-season spell at Liverpool in the summer. The Egyptian icon enjoyed seven years under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp, winning almost every trophy available and breaking innumerable records in the process. His former manager believes the "all-time great" will be impossible to match in the coming decades.

Jurgen Klopp believes that part of Mohamed Salah's legacy will remain "unmatched forever" as the former Liverpool boss hailed the forward as an "all-time great".
Salah announced on Tuesday that he would be leaving The Reds in the summer, bringing an end to one of the most celebrated chapters in the club's history.
Under Klopp, Salah won the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and two EFL Cups, picking up countless accolades and breaking innumerable records in the process.
And the scale of the Egyptian's success at Anfield was not lost on his former head coach.
"I couldn't imagine that something like this was possible," Klopp told The Anfield Wrap. "The numbers he produced, the performances he showed, some of them, will be unmatched forever, I'm pretty sure.
"I'm already in [his] position. I look back already and I can't believe really how something like this was possible.
"The goals he scored, the consistency he showed, the desire and the eagerness for scoring grew and grew and grew bigger and bigger."

If there were any doubts at the beginning of his Liverpool career that Salah had the potential to become an "all-time great", they were quickly washed away by the end of a record-breaking debut season.
Salah registered the most productive scoring season in Premier League history for a single 38-game season with 32 goals in 36 appearances - a record which has since been broken by Erling Haaland.
The Egypt icon went on to win the Premier League Golden Boot four times in total, matching the high watermark set by Thierry Henry in 2006, and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year a record-equalling three times.
"With the bigger view, it's ridiculous, just ridiculous, unmatched numbers," added Klopp.

"Maybe we talk in 10 years and somebody else has them, [Hugo] Ekitike or whoever, [but] I think it will be difficult. It will really be difficult.
"And so one of the all-time greats definitely will leave the club in the summer. And let's see where he will show up next."
Salah's next move is a hot topic for rumours and speculation, especially with the 33-year-old set to leave as a free agent, despite his most recent contract running until 2027.

And Klopp remembers how Salah's initial move to Anfield was far from certain, confirming that then-Bayer Leverkusen prospect Julian Brandt was on The Reds' shortlist.
He said: "There's always a story that I wanted to sign up, and I don't even know exactly which one, Julian Brandt or something like that. This is the situation, that if you go for a winger, you talk to seven or eight if you're lucky.
"And yes, we spoke to Julian Brandt, but we spoke to Mo Salah. It was not that he [Brandt] didn't want, so we took him [Salah], whatever people think. I don't care, really.
"But it was in the moment - we were 100% convinced he's the one. So more convinced than he probably was in that moment."
Speaking on Salah's part in what Klopp called "the best front three in world football" alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, the German said the forward's appetite for goals was untrainable.

"He was part of the best front three in world football for a long time, and he was the one with the most numbers. So that says something; that really says something," Klopp concluded.
"It is not easy to be slightly above the other two guys. They all had their specific skills, but Mo was the one for the final moment. He wanted it more than anybody.
"Mo was the one with a goal always in his mind. You cannot train that or learn it. It is inside him, and he has that. He will have it until the last day of his life."
