Highly rated French defender Jeremy Jacquet has joined Liverpool from Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais in a deal reported to be worth £60 million. The Reds are set to pay an initial £55m with a further £5m in add-ons for the 20-year-old.

The centre-back's move, which was agreed back in January, was formally completed on Wednesday.
The France under-21 international had reportedly turned down Liverpool's Premier League rivals Chelsea and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to move to Anfield.
Jacquet impressed during last season's campaign, during which he made 19 league appearances for Stade Rennais before sustaining a shoulder injury in February.
He is expected to be fit for the start of pre-season and should feature in the club's tour of the United States after undergoing shoulder surgery in March.
He will provide competition for fellow centre-backs Virgil van Dijk, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez, and give new manager Andoni Iraola another option at the heart of defence. Ibrahima Konate left the club at the end of his contract this summer to join Real Madrid.
Jacquet told Liverpoolfc.com: "I feel really good, the first impressions are good and I am very happy to start here.
"I am very happy. When I see the facilities, I can see myself there. I feel good here and I am very excited to get started.
"It’s a legendary club, and the football philosophy and project really appealed to me. My family and I believe we have made the right choice and we feel really happy here.
"I've seen all the cups and trophies and seen just how many there are, and I thought: 'Wow, I really want to be part of the history of this club.'"
