In Wednesday's Euro Transfer News, Italian reports say an agreement between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United for Sandro Tonali has "never been this close". Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has spoken about the club's interest in Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez.

Tonali to Spurs 'never been this close'
Tonali's proposed move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has "never been this close", according to Italian Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
He claims Tottenham are waiting on a final reply from Newcastle after submitting an offer worth more than €100 million (£85.8m).
"Sandro Tonali has never been this close to joining Spurs. THFC are waiting for NUFC's final reply after discussing an offer over €100m," Di Marzio posted on X.
Tottenham are committing heavy investment towards midfield reinforcements this summer.
Widespread reports on Tuesday claimed the north London club were set to win the race to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United in a £85m deal, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United having been among the 21-year-old's suitors.
Tonali, 26, has been an integral member of the Newcastle squad since his move to St James' Park in the summer of 2023.
Laporta claims Alvarez wants Barca
Laporta has claimed that former Manchester City striker Alvarez wants a move to Camp Nou this summer.
The 26-year-old publicly declared his desire for a transfer this summer, with Real Madrid announcing they had a €150m (£129m) bid turned down. Barca have been long-standing admirers of Alvarez, and Laporta said his club have approached negotiations with "full respect".
"Deco made an offer," Laporta said, in quotes reported by Marca. "We know the player wants to come to Barca, and has for a long time. We have made this proposal with full respect for the Madrid club.

"They told me they were not planning to sell, because we had no alternatives. We will keep this offer on the table for as long as we consider appropriate. We will not be at the mercy of what they may tell us.
"If he wants to make the deal happen, we will be delighted. The offer is not unlimited in time."
After Alvarez announced his desire to leave Atletico, CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin hit out at Barca, and said a complaint would be made to FIFA over their approach to negotiations.
Laporta said: "Atletico are digging their heels in, and I hope they reconsider and accept. If they do not, let them say so, and then we will see.
"But taking it to UEFA, FIFA... I do not know what that is about. Maybe there are people who are eager to stir things up. It makes no sense."
Juve make swift move for Vlahovic replacement
Juventus have acted quickly to sign a replacement for striker Dusan Vlahovic, who is not expected to have his contract renewed this summer.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the Serie A club have completed the signing of Genoa forward Jeff Ekhator.
The report claims that Ekhator will sign for Juve in a deal worth €18m (£15.4m). The 19-year-old scored four goals in 32 appearances during the 2025/26 campaign.
And Gazzetta reports that Juve are also interested in bringing Randal Kolo Muani back to the club, having previously spent half a season on loan in Turin. He is contracted with Paris Saint-Germain for another two years, but does not feature in Luis Enrique's plans.

'There's some hope' - Kolo Muani heads Spurs into the lead to reduce Atleti deficit

"New CEO Giovanni Carnevali is closing in on Randal Kolo Muani, another of the strikers who slipped away in January," the report reads.
"Carnevali met with PSG in person in recent days, and contacts continued on Monday through the usual intermediaries.
"With relations with the Parisians now thawed, negotiations are continuing to reach an agreement in time for the July 13 training camp at Continassa."
