'Stoked' Kirsty Muir dominates to take gold in Aspen Freeski Slopestyle World Cup, Matt Weston triumphs in St Moritz

After claiming Big Air gold earlier this season, Kirsty Muir added a Freeski Slopestyle gold to her haul with victory in Aspen and said, "I’m just very stoked, stoked with how I’m skiing". Elsewhere, Matt Weston took European gold for his second victory in three days, adding to his World Cup triumph. The 2026 Olympic Winter Games, starting on February 6, will be live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Muir claims third World Cup victory of career in Aspen

Kirsty Muir secured the third World Cup victory of her career and second of the season as she won gold at the Aspen Freeski Slopestyle World Cup.
The 21-year-old Briton, who also landed Big Air gold at the Secret Garden in China earlier this season, dominated the qualifiers and headed into the first run of the finals as the one to beat.
She held firm to seal victory, perfecting a right-side double cork 1080, left-side 720, and a front-side 630 out during her winning run, as the remainder of the field could not match her leading score of 80.62.
Muir earned her a seventh career World Cup podium, while Canadians Megan Oldham and Elena Gaskell joined her, scoring 73.02 and 72.90, respectively, to take second and third.
Following her victory - and a second podium of the campaign - Muir was delighted at her achievement in the United States.
"I’m just very stoked, stoked with how I’m skiing," Kirsty said afterwards. "Conditions were slightly tough today, so we just managed to get through it.

Great Britain Snowsport Freeski head coach Jamie Mathew added: "Kirsty has faced her fair share of adversity this winter.
"From winning her first Big Air in December to then breaking her thumb the week after, today’s win shows her strength of character to continually show up and give it her best.
"I couldn’t be happier for her today, wins are always hard fought, so it’s amazing she’s walked away with something to show for the continued hard work and dedication."
Weston wins gold in St Moritz
Elsewhere, British skeleton racer Matt Weston won World Cup and European Championship gold with two victories in three days.
On Wednesday, Weston defeated Amedeo Bagnis to claim World Cup gold, and two days later, he overcame the Italian again to take European glory.
The 29-year-old clocked a two-run time of two minutes, 16.58 seconds on Friday - almost a second clear of Bagnis (0.91) and China's Zheng Yin (0.98).

Victory meant Weston joined an elite group of British athletes to be crowned multiple European Champions, alongside four-time champion Kristan Bromley and two-time winner Shelley Rudman.
The European title has stayed in Great Britain for three out of four years, first with Weston winning in 2023 - again overcoming Bagnis - before Marcus Wyatt scooped the prize in 2024.
