The 2026 MotoGP season apporaches the halfway point at Grand Prix Germany, live on TNT Sports and HBO Max. Jorge Martin tops the world title standings, 11 points ahead of closest rival Marco Bezzecchi with 12 race weekends still to come.

Bezzecchi was bidding to regain the lead in the title standings after a difficult streak of races saw him trail his Aprilia team-mate as the season approaches the midway point.

The 27-year-old Italian rider suffered a high-speed crash at Grand Prix Netherlands at Assen in the most recent race weekend, but happily, no lasting physical damage was done, and he was able to compete here in Germany - until a huge crash in qualifying meant he would miss both races in Germany and undergo surgery.

His compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio has championship aspirations too, lurking 13 points behind table-topper Martin.

Elsewhere, defending champion Marc Marquez has moved his way up the standings after his return from injury. He is now fifth on 165 points, nine points behind Ai Ogura in fourth.

The latter won his first Grand Prix in the Netherlands last time out and he too has eyes on the championship.

When is Grand Prix Germany?

Action from the Sachsenring begins with practice on Friday, July 10, followed by qualifying and the Sprint race on Saturday, July 11.

The Grand Prix itself will take place on Sunday, July 12.

Marquez won Grand Prix Germany in 2025, and he will hope for a repeat this year.

How to watch Grand Prix Germany

Every race weekend is available live and on-demand via TNT Sports and its streaming platform, HBO Max.

Suzi Perry, Rachel Stringer and Natalie Quirk will host the action, while ex-riders Neil Hodgson, Michael Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli will be providing their expert views straight from the paddock.

Hodgson will also be offering his verdict on the action with a regular column on TNT Sports every Friday of race weeks.

In his latest column, Hodgson labelled Marquez as MotoGP's Lionel Messi.

What is a MotoGP Sprint race?

Introduced at the start of the 2023 season, the Sprint race is half the number of laps as the Grand Prix and offers half the points.

The winner of a Grand Prix on a Sunday gets 25 points, with the winner of the Sprint earning 12 points. Second place in the Sprint gets nine points, third gets seven, all the way down to the last scoring position in ninth.

The Sprint does not have an impact on the grid positions for Sunday’s race. Those positions are decided by the two qualifying sessions on Saturday.
