ZMARZLIK REIGNS SUPREME
After an incredible night of racing in Germany, Bartosz Zmarzlik has secured victory at the opening Speedway GP round of the season. The #95 took victory by 0.431s over Dan Bewley and Andzejs Lebedevs in an intense final, which left fans on the edge of their seats. The top riders locked horns throughout the final as the new format to Speedway GP proved to be a success.
It was a near-perfect opening round for Zmarzlik, who claimed 24 points after securing victory in the sprint race and dominating proceedings on Saturday evening. Bewley fought hard for second and leaves Germany with 18 points to his name, ending a rock-solid start to the season after beating Lebedevs in the final.
Racing finished under the lights, adding to the spectacle of Speedway GP as Lebedevs showed a very consistent pace at Landshut, ending the round in third, leaving Germany tied on points with Brady Kurtz.
The opening round was not without drama, with crashes in heat 14 and heat 18 briefly bringing out a stoppage. However, both Doyle and Michelsen walked away from their crashes as their attention switches to the next round of the season!

"I WAS A LITTLE BIT NERVOUS"
After a dominant display on Saturday, Zmarzlik gave his immediate reaction after the opening round of the season in Germany, explaining the emotions that he felt throughout the weekend.
"I am very happy because it is the first time in my career that I have won the sprint, five wins, and to win in the most important heat, which is the final.
"I am really happy because I was a little bit nervous after the sprint, because the situation was not easy for me. But maybe this gave me extra power and motivation for tonight!"

FINAL – ZMARZLIK, LEBEDEVS, KURTZ, BEWLEY
It was time for the final at Landshut, with Zmarzlik leading from the inside as Bewley pulled off a heroic move to enter second on the opening lap, charging around the outside. There were near moments on the opening lap, with the order remaining the same as the field entered the final lap.
Over the line, all talk remained on Zmarzlik, who claims victory in Germany after an amazing performance this evening. The reigning Speedway GP champion starts his 2025 title defence in style as he took the win ahead of Bewley and Lebedevs.
LCQ2 – THOMSEN, BEWLEY, LAMBERT, KUBERA
All eyes were on Bewley at the start, launching into the lead from the second gate as Kubera and Lambert dominated Thomsen to fourth. The #105 of Thomsen would slow down and take no further part in the outcome of this race. Meanwhile, Lambert tried to sneak into second, with the battle for second going down to the final lap.
But it was Bewley who took victory, claiming the win by over a second after a convincing performance. The British star is the final rider, who will race in the final in a few moments’ time.
LCQ1 – LEBEDEVS, FRICKE, HOLDER, LINDGREN
It is finally time to create Speedway GP history here in Germany as the first Last Chance Qualifier race is just moments away! The tapes were up in a flash, with Lebedevs proving the dominance of the inside gate, launching into P1. However, there was plenty of action behind as Fricke and Lindegren went head-to-head for second.
Lebedevs kept his cool, holding firm to take victory in LCQ1, earning his spot in the final for this evening. It was a fast time of 1:09.812, winning by a confident three tenths of a second.

HEAT 20 – LAMBERT, FRICKE, LINDGREN
The final heat qualifier of the evening was underway, with Fricke claiming an incredible lead, defending on the opening lap. Lindgren was in the hunt behind, looking for a chance to move into P1 and grab the three points needed. Meanwhile, Lambert sat comfortably in third, unable to match the pace of the front runners.
Fricke held onto victory, winning the final ahead of Lindgren and Lambert. However, there is still plenty of action left, with LCQ 1 & 2 next up before we prepare for the final!
HEAT 19 – ZMARZLIK, HUCKENBECK, KURTZ, KUBERA
At the start, the field was three wide, with Zmarzlik braving it on the inside to initially claim the lead on the opening lap. Kurtz tried to ride around the entire field on the outside, slotting into second position behind the reigning champion as Huckenbeck chased the field in fourth.
At the line, Zmarzlik claimed victory in heat 19, grabbing his spot in the final after claiming the maximum of three points available and beating Kurtz and Kubera in Germany.
HEAT 18 RESTART – LEBEDEVS, KVECH, RISS
There was no Doyle on the restart as heat 18 was back underway, with Lebedevs finding the perfect line at the start. It was a carbon copy launch from the #29 as Kvech and Riss were left to fight for third position in a tense fight.
The leaders were locked together until the end as Kvech showed a strong late race pace. However, it was Lebedevs who took victory in heat 18, beating Kvech and Riss as the chequered flag waved.
HEAT 18 – RED FLAG – LEBEDEVS, KVECH, DOYLE, RISS
Lebedevs took the lead at the start, claiming the dream launch from the inside position. Battles continued throughout the opening lap, with action taking a pause after a crash from Doyle brought out the red flag
HEAT 17 – BEWLEY, THOMSEN, VACULIK, HOLDER
The tapes were up, and it was Vaculik who claimed the best start, firing the #54 machine to the front of the field. The riders were locked together throughout, with Bewley, Holder and Thomsen chasing behind.
Everything stayed as was with Vaculik claiming victory in heat 17, with Bewley left in chase – claiming two points. Holder took third as Thomsen narrowly missed out on scoring an extra point in heat 17.

HEAT 16 – LEBEDEVS, KUBERA, LINDGREN, VACULIK
Lebedevs was the Firestarter in heat 16, launching into the lead on the opening lap with Lindgren and Vaculik in chase. Meanwhile, Kubera had a front seat ticket, watching the front three riders fight for position in the closing stages.
It was an important victory for Lebedevs, winning the 16th heat of the evening ahead of Lindgren and Vaculik in third. Meanwhile, Kubera took fourth and scored no points.
HEAT 15 – RISS, ZMARZLIK, HOLDER, LAMBERT
Riss made a great start, allowing the wildcard to briefly lead before Holder and Zmarzlik charged through the field. The field was packed with talent as Holder forced a move to reclaim first as the lead battle went down to the final lap of heat 15.
Zmarzlik invented a breathtaking overtake on the final lap, winning heat 15 after a great battle with Holder. Meanwhile, Riss took the final point with Lambert walking away in fourth.
HEAT 14 RESTART – KVECH, KURTZ, THOMSEN
The tapes were soon up for the restart, with Kvech as Firestarter this time around, as Kurtz sat in second behind, looking for an opportunity. Kurtz looked for a move on the outside, bringing the Landshut crowd to their feet!
At the line, it was Kvech who held onto P1, with a brilliant time to claim a further three points ahead of Kurtz and Thomsen, with Michelsen not allowed to restart.
HEAT 14 – RED FLAG – KVECH, KURTZ, THOMSEN, MICHELSEN
It was a tense launch to heat 14, with the riders beginning to battle for position at the start. However, action was quickly halted as the red flag came out following a crash from Michelsen. The #155 required checks from the medics, but fortunately, he is now back on his feet as the rest of the field waits for a restart.
HEAT 13 – DOYLE, HUCKENBECK, FRICKE, BEWLEY
The action continues here in Germany! It was Doyle who made a confident start. Meanwhile, Bewley worked hard on the outside, hitting the front at the opening lap after a brave start to heat 13. Huckenbeck drops back to fourth as Fricke earns himself third place, beginning to put Doyle under pressure.
At the finish, Bewley sprinted to victory, showing his bravery in the process after beating Doyle to the line. The British rider claimed the dream three points available as Fricke remained in third.

Completing the third block of heats was heat 12, with Kurtz sweeping through to claim an early lead at the start. Meanwhile, Golder and Lindgren went toe to toe behind, duelling for the second position and the two important points up for grabs.
As the flag waved, Kurtz remained unbeaten, winning heat 12 ahead of Lindgren with Holder remaining in third over the line.
HEAT 11 – THOMSEN, LEBEDEVS, ZMARZLIK, FRICKE
Thomsen took the early advantage as he became the Firestarter of Heat 11. However, Zmarzlik look to fight back in second, looking for a move on the second lap. However, the #95 would fight back, stealing P1 on the final lap with the top two going head-to-head in a fierce duel - sending the crowd to their feet.
Over the line, Zmarzlik held onto the win, fending off Thomsen, who claimed a further two points to his evening. Lebedevs took third as Fricke missed out on scoring any points in a fierce heat 11.
HEAT 10 – HUCKENBECK, LAMBERT, VACULIK, KVECH
Huckenbeck made an incredible start to heat 10, with drama on the opening lap after Kvech went down. It would be a DNF for the #201 with racing continuing at the front, with Lambert soon storming into P1 ahead of the demoted Huckenbeck.
Lambert would claim the win with a time of 1:08.711, finishing ahead of Huckenbeck as Vaculik took the final point. After a DNF in heat 10, Kvech will look to fight back later on.
HEAT 9 – KUBERA, RISS, BEWLEY, MICHELSEN
We return to action at Landshut! It was an incredible launch from Kubera, aiming to convert his start to victory from the inside. Bewley sits in second, beginning to put pressure on Kubera in the closing stages as Riss and Michelsen battle for the final point.
At the finish, it was Kubera who held onto victory, beating Bewley after an intense ninth heat of the evening. Riss claimed the final point of the heat as Michelsen is left with a lot of work to do for the rest of the evening.

Thomsen initially made a great start, before running wide and dropping to second. However, the #105 showed his fighting spirit, reclaiming P1 ahead of Lindgren, the wildcard Riss and Huckenbeck in fourth.
Thomsen was cool, calm and controlled, claiming victory in the eighth heat and claiming a further three points ahead of Lindgren and Riss as Huckenbeck scored no points in fourth.
HEAT 7 – MICHELSEN, VACULIK, DOYLE, ZMARZLIK
There was early drama for Michelsen, changing machinery on his way to the grid. At the start, Michelsen grabbed an early advantage with Doyle struggling at the start before battling it out to steal second early on.
It was a dramatic end to the race with Michelsen victorious in the seventh heat, beating Doyle and Zmarzlik as Vaculik missed out on points in fourth.
HEAT 6 – FRICKE, HOLDER, KVECH, KUBERA
Kubera made a strong start, with the #201 showing as Firestarter at the beginning of the sixth heat. Fricke soon took the lead, sprinting into the distance ahead of Kubera, Kvech and Holder.
Fricke took the win with a very competitive time, claiming three points ahead of Kubera, Holder and Kvech. Important points now in the bag for Fricke with Kvech seeking redemption next time out!
HEAT 5 – KURTZ, BEWLEY, LAMBERT, LEBEDEVS
Kurtz made the perfect launch from the inside, with Lambert jumping into second behind. It was fast action at the front as Bewley dropped down to P4 on the #99. Lambert would show a strong pace, briefly reeling in Kurtz, but it looked too little, too late.
At the end of the fifth heat, Kurtz took back-to-back heat wins, finishing ahead of the chasing Lambert, who tried to reel the #101 in. Lebedevs took P3 as Bewley ended his second heat of the evening with no points.

HEAT 4 – VACULIK, FRICKE, RISS, KURTZ
The tapes were up quickly, with Kurtz sending a sensational move around the outside of the field to grab P1 from the outside. Vaculik was demoted to second, looking for an opportunity as he bridged a good gap over Fricke and Riss behind.
Kurtz took the win, starting his 2025 campaign in style and claiming the maximum three points available. The Australian finished ahead of Vaculik and Fricke, with Riss in P3.
HEAT 3 – HOLDER, MICHELSEN, LEBEDEVS, HUCKENBECK
Heat 3 began with drama as Holder and Lebedevs went side by side at the start, duelling for the top spot. However, Holder remained strong, extending a comfortable margin on the second lap as Huckenbeck tried to close the gap to Michelsen in third.
At the end of the heat, it was Holder who claimed the win, finishing ahead of Lebedevs and Michelsen, who claimed the final points, and Huckenbeck crossed the line in fourth.
HEAT 2 – LAMBERT, DOYLE, KUBERA, THOMSEN
There were no issues at the start of the second heat, with Lambert initially claiming a strong launch before Thomsen found the perfect line, snatching the P1. The #105 was under pressure from Lambert throughout as Kubera and Doyle battled for third in the closing stages.
Over the line, Thomsen reigned supreme, taking an important three points after beating Lambert in second and Kubera in third. Meanwhile, Jason Doyle will go back to the drawing board to improve his start later in the evening.
HEAT 1 – BEWLEY, KVECH, ZMARZLIK, LINDGREN
The was initially a delay to the start, with added tension at the start line for the opening heat of the season. Once racing got underway, it was a brilliant start from Bewley, holding onto the lead at the start. However, Zmarzlik soon showed his talent, storming into P1 just seconds later and bridging a gap instantly.
The reigning champ crossed the line in P1, with Bewley claiming second as Kvech took third and final point with Lindgren rounding out the opening heat of 2025!
