Team GB’s Bruce Mouat, Grant Hardie, Bobby Lammie and Hammy McMillan were forced to settle for silver in the Olympics men's curling.
Despite leading for most of the match, Canada scored three in the ninth end to take an 8-6 lead, leaving Team GB needing a similar performance in the final end to take gold.
However, Canada held their nerve with a crucial take-out to force Mouat into a risky shot to salvage a deciding end. But he could not pull it off, handing Canada their fourth men's curling gold while Team GB's quartet took their second consecutive silver.
Despite coming to Milano Cortina as favourites, Mouat's side had an inconsistent group stage, relying on other results to go their way to squeak into the play-offs.

Canada, meanwhile, are filling the house. Lammie then puts a stone just in front of the three on and around the button.
Gallant takes out the corner guard but no more. Lammie then puts another not-quite-perfect freeze in.

That was a super shot from Jacobs and could well be match-winning. Even if Team GB get two here, Canada will have the hammer in the deciding end.

His freeze is decent, but Canada can go for three. They smell blood.

Canada stick their penultimate stone on the button and Team GB take their time-out.

Canada take out Hardie's stone and leave it on the button. Hardie duly removes it, but jams it.
Kennedy with a big opportunity here and he takes it. Hardie's stone is removed and Canada have three in the house.

Two to go, unless we have an extra end. Canada need at least two points in this end, you think.
Team GB push their guard aside, leaving it in the house, but Canada take it out easily.
Lammie then tries a double but doesn't quite get it, and Canaqda land a third scoring stone at the halfway point.

Canada put a second stone in the house. There is a double here if Bruce Mouat can find it.
He tentatively goes for it, but gets just one, and it rolls too far to gt a freeze, but it is behind a guard.
Canada take it out and Team GB can draw for one. Mouat takes it.

That's the take-out Team GB and Hardie needed! The British fans cheer their approval.
Can Hardie work his magic again? He removes another Canadian guard, and it looks unlikely Team GB will score more than one here.

Canada land a yellow in the house, but Lammie exposes it with a take-out.
The Canadians try and guard it once more, and it stays as Lammier removes his own guard.

Mouat hides his penultimate effort behind the guard, but Jacobs provides a beautiful take-out, hiding his effort behind several guards.
Mouat finds an angle on the far right to take it out and asks the question as Canada draw for one.
With just three ends remaining, Team GB have effectively stolen the hammer.

Once again, Team GB are applying the pressure against the hammer.
They have the only stone in the house with four remaining.
TNT Sports' Ben Snowball reporting live from Milano Cortina: "One Canadian behind me takes grave exception to a perfectly harmless burst of "That’s the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it" from a pocket of Brits and proceeds to embarrass himself with an utterly incoherent response.
"It’s getting tense out there now with stones welded together on the left side of the house. More than tense, in fact, until Mouat produces the shot of the night to edge GB back in front. Superb."

They're putting more pressure on Canada as Lammie takes out two yellow stones.
How can Canada respond? Pretty well. They take two red stones out.

The freeze isn't good enough and Kennedy takes it out. However, Hardie puts a much better freeze in.
Kennedy's next freeze attempt is light, giving GB a window.
A lot to play for with four stones remaining, but Team GB will like their position.

How are your nerves, Team GB fans? Someone who is showing few nerves is Hammy McMillan, who has a 98% accuracy thus far.
Team GB leave a red on the right of the house, with a guard too, but Canada find a pathway to take it out.
However, GB find a half-decent freeze to stay in touch of getting two points at the halfway point.

Canada scoring just one would be a very good result for Team GB and multiple points look optimistic.
Brad Jacobs goes for a triple take-out but has to settle for two. That'll do for Canada.

Team GB are now on the front foot. Kennedy's take-out isn't great either and Hardie can just replace the guard he removed, but might have left it a little short.
Much better take-out from Kennedy. He removes two of the three reds in the house, but adds another in, having pushed the red guard into the house.

A pretty perfect start to the fifth end from both sides. Canada try and freeze a red, but Team GB clean up with their take-out.
There is plenty to like about Team GB's position at the halfway point in this end.
TNT Sports' Ben Snowball reporting live from Milano Cortina: "Not to invite the hate mail, but the moment I said "we haven’t missed a shot" to the photographer next to me midway through the third end… well, we started missing shots.
"Thankfully, Mouat bailed us out in the fourth to pinch a point. Had he missed that, Britain were looking at a very long, very uncomfortable night."

Team GB have a stone right on the button, but Canada remove the guard.
That is a mistake though. Their attempted guard goes wrong, and Canada nudge the red out of the house, replacing it on the button.

However, they make their first mistake of the night as a guard falls short, despite Hardie's audible sweeping efforts.
Team GB are in another good position, but Canada improve their situation after removing some guards to clear the way.

Canada remove one, but will need something special to prevent GB taking an early lead here.
They look resigned to their fate, taking out the second stone after Mouat added another into the house.

Team GB have not put a foot wrong so far today, and Kennedy jams a shot, leaving GB with a stone in the house.

After five stones, Lammie fancies a take-out and does so, leaving another decent guard simultaneously.

Better from Canada, but they will struggle to score more than one at best here. Bruce Mouat is up now with the final two stones.
He generates speed and curl to perfection with his first, knocking Canada out of the button. With one shot each left, Team GB have two scoring stones.

The 4-woman bobsleigh comes to an end as the final heats take place, while Slovakia and Finland face off in the men's hockey bronze medal match.
Zoe Atkins was meant to compete for gold in the halfpipe final too, but that has been postponed until tomorrow due to the weather.

Olympics live: Team GB's medal success so far
Team GB had never won more than one gold medal at the Winter Olympics before Milano Cortina, but they have tasted gold not once, not twice, but thrice already.
The curlers could make it four this evening, but that might not be all, with Zoe Atkins in the halfpipe final tomorrow, having qualified top.
The 4-man bobsleigh team have a distant chance of medalling too, as they currently sit seventh after the first two runs.

Olympics live: Muirhead - Olympic final will be one of the best curling games
Eve Muirhead has predicted Saturday’s final between Team GB and Canada at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics will be "one of the best curling games."
Muirhead, who steered the women’s team to Olympic glory in the Chinese capital, believes it will be another nail-biter in Italy.
"It is going to be a tough game for them but I think it is going to be one of the best curling games, I think it will be incredible," she said.
"I believe it is probably going to come down to the very last stone of the very last end, probably less than an inch between who is going to win gold and who is going to not.
"I think it is going to be a case of who makes the least mistakes and I don’t think there will be many."

It was a tough task on paper, facing Switzerland, who had dominated the round-robin, emerging undefeated.
The first half was tense, with both sides exchanging points before Team GB stole a crucial sixth end to level, before Mouat produced some magic to restrict Switzerland to just one point on the hammer in the seventh.

The Brits held their nerve to take a lead into the final end, in which the Swiss could not get close to overturning the deficit, allowing Mouat and crew to reach their second straight final.

Things were getting nervy for Team GB. Having been 4-2 up against Norway, Mouat and Co. let things slip, losing the final end against the hammer to fall 7-6.
Against Canada, they built a 5-4 lead only to lose three ends in a row and lose 9-5, leaving qualification out of their hands.
The Brits did their job in the final match with a comfortable 9-2 win over USA, but were spectators in the final round to see if results would go their way.
And fortunately they did. Italy's loss to Switzerland confirmed a fourth-place spot.

After a short break, the Brits were back on the ice against Czechia, and it was business as usual as they cruised to a 7-4 win before thrashing Germany 9-4 to make it four wins out of five.
The play-offs were in sight, but once again Team GB failed to make it three wins on the bounce when they were downed by Switzerland 6-5, having been on the wrong end of a tense extra leg.

Olympics live: Team GB's path to the final - Part One
Team GB came to Milano Cortina as strong favourites for gold, having dominated the curling scene in the four years since Beijing.
Things started as expected in the pool stage, with comfortable wins against China and 2022 nemesis Sweden to put them on their way towards the play-offs.
However, they were dealt a reality check at the hands of Italy once more, who knocked out Mouat and Dodds in the semis of the mixed event, after losing 9-7 largely due to a disastrous first end where the hosts scored four.

So who exactly are the quartet looking for glory tonight? Those who have been keeping a beady eye on this year's Olympics will instantly recognise skip Bruce Mouat, who partnered Jenn Dodds in the mixed event earlier in the tournament.
Hammy McMillan is the lead, and alongside him is his cousin Grant Hardie as the third. In between the two relatives is Bobby Lammie, in charge of throwing the third and fourth stones.
Four years ago, the same four players topped the round-robin before falling to Sweden in the final. Hopefully, they can avenge "four years of hurt" tonight...
