Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique says he expects a far different game to the UEFA Super Cup final when his side host Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.

Spurs visit the Parc des Princes, live on TNT Sports and discovery+, looking to extend their unbeaten start to this year's competition to five games, having won two and drawn two of their opening four matches.

Thomas Frank appeared poised to win his first silverware since taking over from Ange Postecoglou in August, as his side led PSG 2-0 in the Super Cup.

But late goals from Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos sent the game to penalties, where PSG eventually prevailed 4-3 in the shootout. Enrique does not believe that dramatic success will have a bearing on proceedings this week in the French capital.

"Good memories," Enrique told TNT Sports when reflecting on the success in Udine.

"It was unexpected because when we started the match, the score in the first half was difficult. They were playing better than us. At the end, football is amazing, and we equalised late on.

"The circumstances around that match are so different because we trained for less than a week [post summer break]. I hope we can be more dominant and control the match.

"If I have to speak about Tottenham, individually, they are top, top level. You can see that they are international players, and as a team, the first year with Thomas [Frank], it's going to be tough. They have done great in the Champions League, but we are ready for the match."

PSG were beaten in their last Champions League outing at home to Bayern Munich, and the defeat came at a cost as Achraf Hakimi suffered an injury following a dangerous challenge from Luis Diaz, which resulted in a three-match ban for the Colombian.

Desire Doue is also out, while Ousmane Dembele has not featured since the Bayern loss and remains a doubt. But left-back Nuno Mendes - who scored the winning penalty in the shootout against Tottenham - is back available after recovering from a knee problem.

Reflecting on the absence of key personnel, Enrique added: "During a season, that kind of thing happens and it's normal.

"You have to adapt, you have to be resilient, you have to think about being a real team. For me, it's important to show this, and I think we have shown it so far.

"We can play with different players, but we play the same way. We try to play the same way, and I'm proud of what I see with my team so far this season."

Kvaratskhelia 'didn't think a lot' when PSG called

Meanwhile, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has highlighted Enrique's influence on convincing him to make the switch from Napoli as the Georgia international approaches his one-year anniversary with the European champions.

The 24-year-old made the move in a deal that could be worth up to €80m, instantly repaying his manager's faith by contributing heavily in the treble-winning season that was capped off by a goal in the Champions League final thrashing of Inter Milan.

Kvaratskhelia's contribution for Napoli in the first half of the season even earned him a second Serie A winners' medal, but the playmaker revealed there was no hesitation before making the mid-season switch.

"He [Luis Enrique] was the guy, one of them, who wanted me to come here," Kvaratskhelia recalled.

"It was very important for me when a coach wants you on the team. I didn't think a lot, I just came here as fast as I could! I'm really happy that I'm part of this team, and I'm trying to give my 100% on the pitch."

Having lifted the trophy, Kvaratskhelia concedes PSG now have a target on their backs during the league phase as they look to avoid a repeat of their dramatic escape from elimination at this stage last season.

With that home defeat by Bayern the only blemish thus far, they remain one of the teams to beat.

"Of course, teams are more concentrated against us," he added. "They are defending very well against us, and they know how we are playing now, so it's difficult always, but that's the job.

"Our job is to find a way of scoring the goals to win games, so for us it's good that they are watching us like the champions.

"Tottenham attack and defend well. In the Super Cup we were down 2-0 and we managed to come back. It won't be easy, it will be a difficult match.

"But we feel good, we are really ready. It was a difficult match against Bayern (on matchday 4), although I think our second half was better.

"Now we have a second chance, an opportunity to redeem ourselves; we must do everything for the victory."
