Vincent Kompany was not best pleased with the officiating in Bayern Munich's 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in their UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg.

Central to the Belgian coach's grievances were two decisions in the first half, which saw Nuno Mendes escape a second yellow card and a penalty refused for a handball on Joao Neves.

Both came after Bayern went 1-0 down through a beautifully-worked Ousmane Dembele opener, before Harry Kane equalised deep into stoppage time, with the Parisians emerging 6-5 winners on aggregate.

In a wild first leg, Alphonso Davies was penalised for handball after the ball struck his body first from close range, another incident that Kompany was unhappy with after the final whistle in Munich.

And while there are explanations for both handball calls in the second leg, Kompany felt his side were treated harshly across both matches.

"We have to look at some of the phases that were decided as well by the officials across the two games. It's never an excuse for anything, but it matters," Kompany said.

"If you look at both legs, probably too much went against us. On the handball situation, I get the rules.

"So the very first one [the penalty given on Davies in the first leg], it goes first to his body, then to his hand. It's close range. It hits his body first, then it bounces off to his hand.

"They said that because of the trajectory of the cross, that's why they gave a penalty.

"Then the second one [on Neves in the second leg], the hand is there in the air. It hit it but, because it's from his own team-mate, it's not a penalty.

"If you look at both phases, a little bit of common sense, and it's just ridiculous. Whatever needs to happen, but it's ridiculous. It doesn't tell the whole game, but it's a one-goal game in the end."

Kompany continued: "And then the second yellow card today in the first-half [on Mendes], I thought he was giving it and I felt he pulled out because he realised he'd already given him a yellow and he didn't want to send him off for that.

"He's turned it around to the other side. I've seen it on a few angles. I don't see Konrad Laimer touch the ball with his hand. They say he did. So I don't know."

On the match as a whole, Kompany was left to rue fine "margins" as PSG edged through to the Champions League final in Budapest against Arsenal, which will be shown live on TNT Sports and HBO Max on May 30.

"It was a game of details. I think we played five times now against PSG in the last two years. We won two times, they won two times and then now it was a draw. So it's been that kind of game every single time," Kompany added.

"They're a dangerous team so you can never completely put them out of a tie. But at the same time, I felt we were in it as well.

"It was margins, details. Two great teams and congratulations to them and good luck to them."
