And in terms of results, the balance does not tip in his favour. In regular time, Salah has experienced two wins, two defeats and five draws at Wembley.

Of those five draws, three came in eventual losses on penalties, all in the Community Shield, while the remaining two ended with Chelsea beaten in shoot-outs after goalless draws, both in the 2021/22 season.

Salah was injured when Jurgen Klopp's youthful line-up scooped the 2024 EFL Cup via an extra-time Virgil van Dijk header, again against Chelsea.

And Salah's only Community Shield triumph, in 2022, came at Leicester's King Power Stadium, where he scored the decisive penalty in a 3-1 win over Manchester City.

What is Salah's record in the FA Cup?

Though his output at Wembley leaves something to be desired, Salah's overall FA Cup record is much healthier.

In total, the winger has eight goals and three assists across 16 appearances for Liverpool and Chelsea in the competition which began in 1871.

And given the fact he only started 10 of those games in a Liverpool shirt, he can boast a goal every 105 minutes, and a goal or assist every 84 minutes for The Reds.

What is more, he has been in sparkling FA Cup form for the past four seasons. In fact, in his past six FA Cup matches since winning the 2022 edition, Salah has provided four goals and two assists - a goal contribution every 70 minutes.

Can he step up once again against Manchester City on Saturday?

The Etihad is a much happier hunting ground for the Egyptian than Wembley - five goals and three assists in 12 appearances at City's stadium suggests he could yet have an important role to play.
